ASIAN AIRSPACE - A CRISIS LOOMING
The serious challenge to the Asia Pacific region is the problem of airspace congestion. Unprecedented growth in air traffic is straining the region's ATC infrastructure. Unlike Europe, airspace capacity improvement in Asia is falling behind airport capacity development. Asia could find its new airports, which can handle millions of passengers, congestion bound because of ATC infrastructure constraints. This is the view of IATA's regional director of operations and infrastructure in the Asia Pacific region, Toly Laven.
