MASTIFLEX - A HEAVY DUTY PAVING MATERIAL

Mastiflex is an asphalt wearing course mix developed for construction and maintenance of heavily trafficked roads. The product is based on the "StoneMastic-Asphalt" concept in combination with the use of a polymer-modified bitumen, Colflex. This binder is tailored for improving specific asphalt pavement properties; resistance to permanent deformation, fatigue cracking and thermal cracking. During the last 7 to 8 years Mastiflex has been installed on a variety of heavily trafficked roads and motorways in Denmark. Among others, Mastiflex was used for rehabilitation of an old Portland cement motorway north of Copenhagen. Savings in maintenance costs were considerable, and Mastiflex has proven to possess excellent properties. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 885061.
