LARGE SCALE DYNAMIC TRIAXIAL TESTS WITH COARSE GRAINED AGGREGATES
In the past, high quality natural stone and gravel aggregates have been widely used in the construction of base and sub-base layers of roads in Finland. Over the years a vast experience has also evolved regarding the deformation behavior of the materials used based on both in-situ measurements with plate-loading tests and falling weight deflectometers as well as from observations made on the long-term behavior of actual road structures. In this paper an attempt to determine the factors affecting the deformation behavior of different types of coarse grained gravel and rock aggregates is described.
