BACK CALCULATION OF LONGTERM DEFLECTIONS ON ASPHALT PAVEMENTS AND OVERLAY DESIGN
Longterm deflection measurements were performed in Germany by the BASt with the standard Benkelman-beam on three typical pavement structures with different asphalt thicknesses: (1) asphalt on a blanket layer, base course of gravel; (2) asphalt on a base course of crushed aggregates and blanket layer; and (3) asphalt on a cement treated base and blanket layer. Topic headings include: (a) Investiagated Pavement Structures--subgrade, blanket layer, cement stabilization, crushed aggregate base, and asphalt concrete; (b) Deflection Measurements; (c) Back Calculation of Deflections--loading, material input values, and calculated deflections; and (d) Overlay Design.
