STATISTICAL COMPARISON OF MODEL RESULTS
In response to legislation requiring that each federal agency carefully and systematically consider the environmental effects of its actions, the Office of the Secretary of Transportation initiated the Technology for Environmental Analysis (TAE) program at the Transportation Systems Center (TSC) in 1972 to develop unified technological capabilities in air pollution assessment as part of a family of techniques and capabilities necessary to support the Office of the Secretary and the operating administrations in their development of planning procedures related to the environmental impact of transportation systems and facilities. One important goal of this program is to develop and maintain expertise on the availability, applicability, and performance of techniques for analyzing the environmental impact of transportation-generated air pollution. To aid in the achievement of this goal, TSC has pursued the acquisition of both dispersion models and air quality data. The work reported here is a step toward the fulfillment of this goal. /Author/
