IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGNS

A comprehensive evaluation concept for the impact assessment of road safety campaigns is described. The description concentrates on the systematization and characterization of those impact factors that determine the essential degree of efficacy of road safety campaigns. By linking these influence factors together, it is possible, while assessing the impact of road safety campaigns, to determine the correlations between the set goal, the employment of means and the degree of success. This is achieved through the classification of the success criteria into input variables, intervening variables and output variables, depending on their individual significance. Finally a practical example is given to show how the efficiency of a road safety campaign can be evaluated, even if the required data is only available to a limited extent. (A)
