WHEEL NUTS: HOW TO KEEP THEM ON
In this article, brief mention is made of a self locking wheel nut developed in the USA by Disk-lock, available in sizes m14 to m24, which the company claims has solved the problem of wheel loss on lorries. There are some 2000 wheel loss incidents involving commercial vehicles each year and some five deaths a year are attributed to the phenomena. Disk lock claims to have patented a self tightening nut, and the design features are briefly described here.
