EXPERIMENTS WITH THREE UNBOUND GRANULAR MATERIALS ON THE LCPC CIRCULAR TEST TRACK

This article describes experiments with flexible pavements, carried out with three Unbound Granular Materials (UGM) on the LCPC circular test track between September 1989 and March 1990. The UGMs used were tested using the repeated load triaxial apparatus and classified following their mechanical properties. The pavement structures were designed using the French design method for low traffic roads. The aim of this experiment was to compare the actual behaviour of UGMs under a traffic close to 600000 cycles of the 66 kN dual wheel with predicted behaviour from triaxial tests and to provide data for calibrating pavement design methods.
