A CONSTITUTIVE MODEL FOR UNSATURATED SOIL BASED ON EXTENDED SMP
This paper aims to present a constitutive model for unsaturated soil based on the concept of the "Extended SMP", which can explain not only the deformation and failure under general stress state but also the deformation in collapse. In this model, yield locus which mean the increase in the stiffness of soil skeleton induced by increase of suction and one yield surface which is defined as a constant plastic work condition are proposed. Two kinds of suction controlled tests are performed on compacted clay and it is shown that the deformation under a constant suction in triaxial compression and extension tests and collapse in a wetting test under isotropic stress state can be predicted with the proposed model.
