INFLUENCE OF DEPOSITION ON DEFORMATION OF UNSATURATED SOILS
Field and laboratory observations have shown the effect of type of deposition such as wind, water, compaction, and vibration on the mechanical behaviour of unsaturated soils. During natural deposition, localized loosely packed zones with different sizes orientation and shapes are formed. The deformation of soil layers is influenced by the properties of these loosely packed zones. The concept of Geological Deposition Factor and the method of its determination have been introduced. The results of several experimental tests have been reported, in order to verify the efficiency of the proposed method. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 881647.
