USER NEEDS FOR AN AUTOMATED HIGHWAY
The National Automated Highway System Consortium (NAHSC) has identified 23 top level system objectives, user service requirements and design characteristics for an Automated Highway System. Results of a needs survey are being used to better understand the specific requirements and priorities of stakeholder groups. This will ensure that the development and selection of AHS concepts fulfills stakeholder needs, addresses realistic system goals and leads to a national consensus. This article reviews preliminary results of the user survey.
