EVALUATION OF MIXTURES CONTAINING WASTE MATERIALS (WITH DISCUSSION)
Waste materials continue to accumulate throughout North America. Increased landfill costs and restrictions, coupled with decreased availability, have combined to create a significant disposal problem for many industries. The introduction of waste in asphalt concrete is a particularly critical application given the societal costs of poor performance. The objectives of this paper are to: (1) identify the limits of existing mixture analysis procedures, (2) discuss the need for performance based tests, and (3) show the application of SHRP testing protocols to a waste-modified asphalt concrete.
