RESEARCH PROBLEM STATEMENTS: DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES

This circular contains 173 research problem statements developed by 40 committees of the Transportation Research Board's Group 2 Council. While the problem statements have been assigned a number and arranged within categories by alphanumeric designation of contributing committees, this arrangement does not establish recommended priorities within categories. The ordering of statements under individual committee listings does reflect that committee's priorities if indicated. The overall organization of the research problem statements is as follows: Section A - General Design - Geometrics and Safety -- 9 statements; Section B - Pavement Design and Performance -- 2 statements; Section C - Structures - Bridges, Culverts, and Tunnels -- 15 statements; Section D - Asphalt Concrete Mixes -- 18 statements; Section E - Concrete Mixtures and Usage -- 10 statements; Section F - Construction and Rehabilitation -- 23 statements; Section J - Geomaterials Stabilization and Aggregates -- 8 statements; Section K - Soil Mechanics -- 42 statements; Section L - Geology and Properties of Earth Materials -- 26 statements; and Section M - Railway Systems -- 20 statements.
