PROTECTING HULLS NEAR ICCP ANODES

A specially formulated coating is described which protects hulls in the vicinity of ICCP anodes. The high-build apoxy treatment offers resistance to abrasion for submerged steel and can be applied in coating thicknesses up to 500 microns. It is virtually solvent free. Present in the protective film provided by many coatings are microscopic quantities of solvent which, harmless in most applications, can initiate corrosion and coating breakdown in the vicinity of ICCP anodes. The new coating has been developed to provide protection in this specific situation.
