INVESTIGATION OF TURBULENT BOUNDARY LAYERS ON A SHIP MODEL
Detailed measurements of static pressure, skin friction and velocity profiles in the boundary layer of a full form tanker model have been made. Using a nonorthogonal system of curvilinear coordinates on the hull surface, surface pressure and boundary layer calculations have been made by the methods of Gadd and Myring-Smith respectively. The measured distribution of static pressure agrees very well with Gadd's theory. The boundary layer calculations have been found to be in reasonable agreement with experiment.
