HIGH-POWERED ENGINE FOR THE NEXT CONTAINERSHIP GENERATION
Larger containerships with capacities of up to 6,000 TEU or more sailing at service speeds of 24 or even 25 knots has created a demand for a quantum jump in the engine bore size. New Sulzer Diesel have developed the RTA96C containership engine to meet this market demand. The new engines extend the power range of the Sulzer RTA series of low-speed two-stroke marine diesel engines up to 89,640 bhp (65,880 kW).
