OBJECTIVES OF AN EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEM
This paper which focuses on the interface between maintenance managers and other disciplines that influence the programming of resources, describes and analyzes the four areas (product, equipment; personnel who service and repair the equipment; policy, procedures; and the physical plant) of a Maryland program. The design constraints imposed to meet Maryland's needs are described. These constraints relate to the minimization of access time, ensuring data reliability, enhancing communications, promoting management development, automating the planning process, provision of self monitoring, restricting clerical input, facilitating system evolution and accelerating investigations.
