LISTA: DESIGNED WITH THE ENVIRONMENT IN MIND
Important safety concerns were addressed in the design for the tanker LISTA which was built to distribute oil products around the Norwegian coastline. Of particular note is the adoption of a twin- screw, fully redundant propulsion system; the rare use of a gearbox with low-speed engines, to reduce engine speed and thereby save fuel; and the fitting of two rudders with separate rotary-vane steering gears to cover emergencies. A general arrangement drawing of the vessel is included in this article.
