NUMERICAL PREDICTION OF THE PERTURBATION VELOCITY FIELD AROUND A PROPELLER
A numerical method for the prediction of the velocity of the flow field around a propeller is presented, in which the propeller perturbation effect to the flow field is represented by a lifting surface, located on the camber surface of the propeller blade, which has a vortex and source distribution. After the vortex distribution is solved according to the boundary condition of no-flow-penetrating through the blade surface, the velocity reduced by the propeller can be calculated. Agreement between the numerical results of reduced velocity around an open-water propeller and the measurements is satisfactory.
