CITY MONORAIL CONSTRUCTION

The traffic congestion is now a big problem in Japan. One of the measures to solve this problem is the "Subsidy System for the Construction of City Monorail", which was authorized in 1974. This system is epoch-making in that it has now become possible for the road constructor or operator to construct substructures such as props and girders of city monorail system as a part of road. This report introduces an outline of this new system as well as the history of its establishment. /Author/
