A VIEWPOINT OF THE AUSTRALIAN TRANSPORT INDUSTRY
The author outlines views of the Australian transport industry. Various regulations which add to freight costs are discussed, particularly those relating to length, width, height and axle-weight of vehicles. Differences in regulations between Australian states are also discussed. Industry licensing, driver training and licensing as well as safety are examined. The advantages of some vehicle types currently used overseas are commented upon. (Author) /TRRL/
