"DECISIONAL FACTORS" IN ROAD SAFETY AT INTERSECTIONS
The purpose of this paper is to suggest that one productive line of research in road traffic safety may be the study of the relationship between the stimulus cues of the road environment and the decision-making processes of drivers. This idea will be explored with particular reference to the design of intersections and intersection controls. The paper does not claim to provide a set of "design rules" for safety engineering, but to encourage the research which might make such design principles possible and practical. (A) /TRRL/
