THE FUTURE OF THE VEHICLE
The author describes the present position in a number of areas concerning vehicle design and the road/vehicle interforce and considers likely changes in the next 25 years. Aspects considered include: power units, structure and body engineering, safety, communication with the driver, commercial vehicles, personal and public transport. The author assumes that a segregated road system for the exclusive use of goods transport will be developed which will incorporate sophisticated control methods.
