OPTIMAL SPACINGS FOR A RECTANGULAR GRID TRANSPORTATION NETWORK - 2. REVISED ASSIGNMENTS
The artificial assignment used in part-I (Fawaz and Newell, 1976) for the analysis of three and four hierarchy systems is replaced by more realistic assignments. The revisions allow short trips to travel via the lower hierarchy roads only. The main effect of the revision is that new hierarchies are introduced at a significantly lower trip density than described in I and at a much larger spacing. (a).
