THE RESULTS OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WORK IN THE FIELD OF WOODEN-GLUED STRUCTURES

REZULTATI NAUCNOISTCZIVACKOG RADA IZ PODRUCJA DRVENIH LJEPLJENIH KONSTRUKCIJA

The article presents the results of extensive tests performed on glued laminated-wood girders. The purpose of these tests was to determine and define the optimum technological process of glued laminated-wood structures and the actual testing of these structures. An examination was made of the synthetic resin used in these girders. The glue used was resorcinol formaldehyde resin. The results showed that the glue tested, which is produced domestically, satisfied the test requirements in accordance with Swiss empa-guidelines. Four types of experimental girders were used during the testing: rectangular beam section, I-Section, arch and lattice/truss/beam sections. The tests comprised the measurement of deformations and stresses, under different loading, and measurement of deflections and settlements at supports. The results obtained have been satisfactory and showed that the wooden-glued laminated structures should be used more in engineering structures where bigger spans and heavier loads are anticipated. /TRRL/
