AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE PROPERTIES OF GLUE CONCRETE

Cement concrete is brittle; it has very limited strength in tension. Microcracking of cement concrete allows the humidity and oxygen to attack the reinforcing steel, thus causing its corrosion and ultimately the failure of the structural members. For water logged areas and offshore structures a more impermeable, ductile material is required and, in this regard, glue seems to hold a promise as a good binding material for aggregate which could replace cement and impart required qualities to the concrete. Thinner based glues have been used in Great Britain to produce glue concrete and experimental studies have been carried out to investigate its behavior. In the present study, water based glue has been used to prepare the concrete and its properties have been studied in order to investigate its suitability as major structural material which could replace cement concrete.
