ROOFING THE ROADS: TTI EXAMINES INVENTIVE RECYCLING FOR ROOFING WASTE
Investigators at the Texas Transportation Institute are developing standards for the use of roofing waste material in highway paving mixtures. Roofing waste has been ground, screened, stockpiled, and recycled successfully in hot and cold applied asphalt paving mixtures, with 13 states having conducted laboratory and field tests using ground roofing shingles. This brief article describes the current research and notes the benefits of recycling.
