NATIONAL REGIONAL TRAFFIC ALCOHOL CONTROLS
DE LANDELIJKE EN REGIONALE VERKEERSALKOLHOLKONTROLES
The question of the planning and programming of national and regional traffic controls by the police regarding the use of alcohol by the driver is discussed. These controls are reviewed in the light of appropriate enforcement. The influence of the use of alcohol on the number of traffic accidents is outlined. It is concluded that the police action in such controls in the Netherlands is suitable and correct, because priority is given to the tracing of genuinely hazardous traffic behaviour. The controls take place during the evening and the night, and therefore at time when the risk is at its greatest. /TRRL/
