INTEGRATED GIS DATABASE FOR ROAD SAFETY MANAGEMENT
This paper describes the development of an integrated database in a Geographic Information System (GIS) framework for use in accident analysis and road safety management. The system uses the capability of the PC ARC/INFO GIS to integrate accident data, land use data, traffic management devices, traffic flow and the road network. It is flexible, easy to use and is fully automated, except where user choices are necessary, and requires no advanced knowledge of GIS.
