COSTS FOR OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
The author discusses costs of operating and maintaining Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS). He notes that, regarding personnel time and costs, there are three major categories to consider for the operation and maintenance of IVHS surveillance and control equipment. They are: operations of the traffic management center, preventive maintenance and response maintenance of the field hardware, and incident management response costs.
