SIGNAL PRIORITY SYSTEM DEMO PROMISES INCREASE IN SERVICE WITH MINIMAL COSTS
A recent demonstration of a signal priority system in Tacoma, Washington, has shown that it may be one of the few ways a transit agency can increase service and reliability without significantly increasing operating costs. Pierce Transit recently concluded a demonstration project which adapted optical signal pre-emption technology commonly used by emergency vehicles to a signal priority system for transit.
