FREQUENT-FLIER PROGRAMS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE AMERICAN AND AUSTRALIAN EXPERIENCES

This study compares and contrasts frequent-flier programs in the United States and Australia. It shows that the Australians have learned from the American experience by more effectively targeting business travelers and by making the programs ore restrictive. The authors also show that frequent fliers are essentially the same in both countries in terms of their demographics, behavior, attitudes, and preferences. But Australian business travelers are less aware of corporate policies on frequent-flier programs, compared to their American counterparts.
