DEVELOPMENT OF A MICROSCOPIC SIMULATION MODEL FOR TRAFFIC NETWORK (MICSTRAN-II) AND A TRAFFIC FLOW SIMULATOR FOR EVALUATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL (TRAS-TSC)
Building on the existing microscopic simulation model for traffic networks (MICSTRAN-I), the authors made improvements to the model's traffic condition simulation module, and developed a new microscopic simulation model for traffic networks (MICSTRAN-II). The traffic flow simulator for evaluation of traffic signal control (TRAS-TSC) is one component of the Universal Traffic Management Society of Japan's (UTMS) development project. The TRAS-TSC simulator comprises the MICSTRAN-II model, which is the traffic flow simulation module, a traffic condition calculator module, a signal controller connection module, and a user interface module. Evaluation of signal control methods can be performed by directly connecting the signal controllers to the TRAS-TSC simulator or by entering the controllers' algorithms into the simulator.
