THEORETICAL OVERLOAD FACTOR EFFECT OF SEA STATE ON MARINE CRANES
It is the purpose of this paper to show a rational calculation of dynamic rated load from sea state. Comparisons will be made to existing regulations, remaining strength margins, and to existing static ratings. The data shown are limited to marine cranes on fixed platforms picking from ships on a heaving sea. Some discussion of cranes on rolling ships is presented, but rating methods are not shown.
