NOWCASTING ROAD CONDITIONS -- A SYSTEM IMPROVING TRAFFIC SAFETY IN WINTERTIME
This paper gives a brief summary of the international state-of-the-art in forecasting winter road conditions, and the systems in current use. Large-scale weather forecasts are produced for the whole of Europe by Reading (ECMFW), Frankfurt (DWD), Meteofrance, daily, up to 10 days in advance, and improved by MOS (model output statistics).
