ELDERLY DRIVERS, GUILTY OF TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS, SUFFER FROM SELECTIVE COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT
During the period of May 1993 to April 1994, consecutive cases of license suspensions due to "unsafe driving" among drivers aged 65 years or more were included in this study. To reflect types of population in an urban as well as a rural area of sweden, cases were included from Stockholm, the capital city (25 cases), and Jonkoping, a mainly rural area in the Southern part of Sweden with 0.3 million inhabitants (12 cases). Only subjects actually living in the two counties were selected and cases of drunk driving and license suspension for medical reasons were excluded.
