ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION IN BICYCLE VICTIMS AGED 15-24 YEARS

This study is about alcohol consumption in persons aged 15-29 years (N=885) who attended the emergency room at the University Hospital Groningen for treatment of their injuries due to cycling accidents. 51% of the traffic victims (aged 15-24 years) with alcohol consumption were injured in a cycling accident. 76% of the patients with alcohol consumption had a one sided bicycle accident in which no other traffic was involved. 66% of the victims of the bicycle accidents with alcohol consumptions happened during the weekend. The peak hour of attendance was located between 22 pm and 8 am.The majority (40%) of the injuries were found at the face, followed by the head (22%). Preventive measures are discussed in the context of recent developments in the budget analysis of the youth. For the covering abstract of the report see IRRD 877138.
