COMPREHENSIVE AND INTERACTIVE CONSIDERATIONS: NEW REQUIREMENTS TOWARDS POLICY ANALYSES AND DECISION MAKING REGARDING INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS

INTEGRALE EN INTERACTIEVE AFWEGING: NIEUWE EISEN AAN BELEIDS- EN BESLUITVORMING RONDOM INFRASTRUCTUUR

On going decentralization of policy making and the severity of transportation problems puts new requirements on the way the policy and decision making process is organized. Society demands for a transparent process of policy analyses and decision making in which information of projects is geared towards the interests of various parties having a steak in infrastructure decisisons. This goes far beyond a critical examination of generally formulated goals. It requires a comprehensive approach of policy analyses and decision making in transportation and infrastructure development. Three dimensions ought to be considered: substance, process and organization. The process asks for a comprehensive and interactive approach.
