THE IMPACT OF FLOOD PLAIN REGULATION ON TRANSPORTATION: INTRODUCTION
A series of discussions are presented here concerning various aspects related to crossing or encroaching on a flood plain by ground transportation facilities. The various types of regulations and local legislation required by acts such as the Federal Flood Insurance Program, the Flood Disaster Protection Act, and the Environmental Protection Act are discussed. It is recognized that the transportation community in general is not familiar with these acts and serious problems may develop in administering transporting failities. A meeting was, therefore, called of interested persons representing private and governmental agencies to discuss the matter.
