METRICATION IN SHIP RESEARCH AND DESIGN
The implications of the change-over to the metric system in ship design and research work are discussed. Recommendations are made regarding choice of units and nomenclature, and some formulae commonly used in Naval Architecture are restated in metric form. Ship production aspects are not discussed. The paper is a revised version of an National Physical Laboratory internal memorandum, orginally produced for the guidance of National Physical Laboratory Ship Division staff.
