THE SCHELDE RADAR CHAIN
The article describes the electronic equipment installed in the so-called first-phase Schelde radar chain. This chain, when completed, forms the backbone of the maritime traffic system in the Antwerp-Ghent area. The first-phase chain comprises two unmanned radar stations, remote controlled from a control centre at Zandvietsluis in Belgium. The equipment includes radars, wide and narrow band radio links, remote control and monitoring equipment, telephone exchanges and intercoms.
