OPTIMUM DESIGN OF PASSIVE ROLL STABILIZER TANKS
This paper presents a method whereby a design of passive tank may be selected that will give the best performance for a particular ship. An equation for the motion of the tank water is presented, based on experiments; it allows a complete mathematical simulation of the ship and tank to be made. The results of an extensive series of such simulations lead for the first time to a complete understanding of how the stabilizer works.
