TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: A REVIEW OF RECENT LITERATURE

In this paper the author examines the debate regarding the direction which infrastructure investment policy should take into the 21st century. Section II provides a brief exposition on the evolution of transportation policy in passenger and freight. A review of the empirical literature investigating the relationship between public capital, focused heavily on transportation infrastructure, and economic growth is contained in Section III. Section IV contains a summary and some conclusions.
