ACCESS AND PARKING FOR RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT. LOCAL DESIGN GUIDE

This guide has been produced for the use of those involved in the development of new housing to encourage good practice in the design of residential developments. The policies of the 1994 Planning Policy Guidance: transport (PPG 13) to reduce reliance on the private car and encourage alternative means of travel are recognised in this guide in the sections dealing with walking, cycling and public transport. Attention is paid to reducing traffic speeds in residential settings by applying appropriate layout and detailed design principles.
