AN INQUIRY ON THE TRAFFIC CONGESTION IMPACTS OF PARKING AND PRICING POLICIES IN THE MANHATTAN CBD
This study has three objectives: to better understand why automobile drivers who park in the Manhattan Central Business District (CBD) do not use public transportation; to measure the impact on traffic congestion from those who spend time searching for a parking space; and for commercial drivers, to determine the reason they use the curb space, the incidence of double parking, and the duration a service vehicle or pick-up and delivery vehicle stays parked. The study was carried out by interviewing drivers of automobiles and commercial vehicles.
