THE ECU VIADUCT, GENEVA
IL VIADOTTO DELL'ECU A GINEVRA
The Ecu viaduct is a continuous beam, prestressed reinforced cast-in-place concrete structure, on the Geneva north-west tangential motorway. This s-bend viaduct has 4 central spans of 60 M each and 2 end spans of 48 M each in its total length of 336 M. A characteristic of the design is the semi elliptical section of the superstructure, the high torsional rigidity of which has enabled the use of a deck slab only 14 cm thick. Prestressing was carried out in three successive phases, 30, 70 and 100 percent of the total. /TRRL/
