EVALUATION OF UNDERDRAIN ON I-295
The effectiveness of shoulder edge drains on I-295 south of Richmond was evaluated. Three adjacent outlets were monitored for outflow over a period of several months. Rainfall and outflow intensity and duration were continuously recorded using tipping bucket gages interfaced with a datalogger. The results indicate "excellent" to "good" quality of drainage, according to AASHTO criteria.
