THE 1-POINT TECHNIQUE
EL PROCEDIENTO 1 - PUNTO
The author recalls that one of the main characteristics of a motorway is the absence of on-grade junctions, which necessitates a special study of interchanges and access roads. The problem arising is that of the gradient and banking of the road. To solve this problem, two conventional methods have been used up to now: series of points, 2-points, and level curves. These three methods are cumbersome, give only approximate results, and can only be used at an advanced phase of the project. But the 1-point method, which is the subject of this article is very quick and gives a graphic or semi-graphic solution to the problem, which can be used at any stage of the project even at the preliminary planning stage. /TRRL/
