A SIMPLIFIED PAVEMENT DESIGN METHOD FOR COHESIVE SOIL IN ARID AREAS
The article presents a simplified pavement design method for use in areas of low rainfall as in these conditions it is stated that the CBR method does not correctly simulate the strength characteristics of the subgrade. The method can be used in areas where soil testing equipment is not available. The CBR of the subgrade and sub-base is obtained through a correlation of the properties of the soils evaluated by simple soil tests and the soil strength. The method can be used for soils which have some cohesion. It is not suitable for use in case of pure sand. /TRRL/
