SPECIAL PROPERTIES OF STEEL RAIL
UEBER DIE BESONDERE EIGENART DES SCHIENENSTAHLS
Behaviour of rails in service depends on the structure and chemical make-up of the steel used for the rails. The author shows how it is possible to vary the elements making up the alloy as well as production, cooling and heating techniques and thereby modify the structure, the physical properties and the characteristics of use of these rails. Costs are also influenced as a result.
